October 20 A busy weekend! This weekend was like a whirlwind - overseeding the grass (Josh did that), the AZ State Fair, Schnepf Farms to do their fall festival, Humane Society and getting a new dog, our birth class... whew. I really needed a rest today! I'm posting pictures of some of the fun activities. Meet RoscoeSeems kind of soon, but we decided with the new baby on the way, it was now or in a couple years to get a new dog. The house was very lonely without a dog around, so Josh gave in (I think he secretly misses Butch also) and we went to the Humane Society this weekend. After "interviewing" a few dogs, we found Roscoe and brought him home on Sat. He is quite a bit younger than Butch (supposedly around 2 years old) and Brie is really enjoying playing with him... he loves to run outside, give kisses, and lay on his back so you can rub his tummy. He's really a sweetheart.
Riiiiiight...Josh and I can't even justify spending $500 for a complete set of furniture for Brie's room (this is the one we like from IKEA, but don't think we're going to get it, seems silly to buy everything when all we really need is a bed, even though I think it's so cute!). Do people really spend thousands of dollars on furniture for their children? STuff that they will likely have for 4-5 years, and then have to get something new? There is some really wonderful stuff out there - found this one today - check out Muu Furniture. Who really spends $1400 for a child's bed? I'm sure there are people who do; just can't imagine it myself. How different life would be if 1. we had a ton of money and 2. we spent it on things like furniture. I would like to hope that if we had more money we would use it in better ways than buying fancy things. But who really knows. October 14 Chandler REgional Annual Company PicnicSunday was the hospital's company picnic. WE ordinarily don't go, because they only allow the employee to go for free, and then you have to pay admission for family members. I think that's a bit ridiculous. However, this year, Josh's boss got tickets for all of them, including for the kids. So, we decided, free entertainment on a Sunday, and went this year. It was fun - barbeque food, lots of good sweets (cotton candy made it all worth it for me and I believe for Brie), jumping castle-y things for the kids, and it was right next to the big playground at Tumbleweed Park about 2 miles from us, so Brie also enjoyed playing on the playground. I'm posting some pictures both of Brie and her friend Logan. We had a fun time, and the weather was absolutely perfect. Even a bit cold in the shade while we were eating!!! October 09 A splurge, and a trip to Tucson
We did it, finally. We've been talking about upgrading our camera for months and months (maybe more), and finally broke down and did it. We have three friends who all have the Canon fancy-schmancy camera, and talked us into it. So, we spent way too much money (Josh has been saving money for it for a while, nice to have a frugal husband who thinks about these things) and did it. Got a Canon Digital Rebel XSi (I think that's it). If you couldn't tell from the recent pictures, I've been enjoying it. It was nice to get some good pictures of Butch on his last day with us... and then Brie and I headed down to Tucson and to Willcox with Granny and Grandpa Allan yesterday to do some pumpkin/veggie/apple picking. I enjoyed taking pictures there as well. It's so fun to have a camera that's so fast - it's like "click-click-click-click..>" if you've had a slow digital camera, you will probably appreciate how nice a change that is. Especially when you're trying to catch a toddler and get a good shot. Now I just have to sort through more pictures to decide which ones to keep and which to delete. I also need to figure out how to do the black and white/sepia pictures that Julie does... haven't gotten that far yet. Anyway, I'm posting pictures.
