February 23 Some more photos...We had a great weekend this weekend - my first whole weekend off in a while. Josh and I left both kids with our babysitter for the first time on Friday, so we could go out for dinner and some drinks. She did great. Sat we went to a bubble activity in Chandler for Brie, then ran some errands and went to the park. Sunday we headed to the Fountain Hills fair, which was great since the weather was so nice. Then we hung out with Josh's family at their house for a while. How strange to have two whole days together! :_) I'm posting some pictures from the weekend. February 18 2 Month UpdateFinley is now 2 months old and had his 2-month checkup on Monday. He weighed in at a hefty 14 lb 14 oz (this time he was wearing a disposable diaper provided by the pediatrician, whereas last weighin he was wearing a cloth diaper...) and was 23 1/2" tall. That makes him 97% for his weight (duh) and only 75% for his height. Better grow taller! He also had the first of his marathon rounds of shots - 4 shots in total, and also an oral vaccine that is new since we had Brie. Of course that was no fun for him, but he did surprisingly well. I gave him one dose of Tylenol that night, he slept great, and then was all smiles the next day. Wow. I don't think I would be that good-natured after so many vaccines. :) I haven't taken tons of pictures - I have been meaning to take some of Finn and Brie together - but I have taken a few and will post them in a bit. February 11 the Internet is so cool!Alright, so I'm old enough to remember times before computers. NOt quite old enough to remember times before phones or even, really, before cell phones (though I do remember the first cell phones and car phones that were huge monstrosities). I remember in high school having a word processor rather than a computer, and do remember my mom's old typewriter. I also remember having tapes and a rotary dial phone (before the times you could get fake rotary phones with push buttons in the holes haha). Not quite old enough for 8-tracks. I do remember the first portable phones, seems like everyone had the same one, but it was kind of pointless having one since the reception was terrible unless you sat right next to the base. I hated that thing. How can you have a private conversation with your friends when you have to sit in the living room? Ah, how different things are for parents nowadays with cell phones that kids can talk on or text on anywhere. But, I digress. And, sound REALLY OLD. I was just thinking today how cool the internet is. Sometimes I think we forget and take things for granted. JOsh's family passed along a bunch of his old toys they had in storage. Among those things were a bunch of Legos, which I used to love playing with with my brother. I took them out for Brie today, and found that his mom had saved the boxes but not the instructions (???). I thought "how the heck will I get instructions for something a good 20 years old?". I checked Lego's website, and they have instructions back through 2002. These sets are from 1980. Hmm. Then I realized I should just do a web search. Sure enough, I found a website with instructions for all the sets. Scanned, so you can print them. Amazing. Never heard of this website before, but I have to give them a shoutout. Check out http://www.peeron.com/. Wow. These Recessionary TimesRight, so we're supposed to be in a recession. Meaning people are having money troubles and not spending as much money. Huh? I keep seeing all these things on TV helping people save money, talking about our account nvestment going down the drain, etc, etc. Then, we go to the mall this weekend, and it's packed. Not just a few people there perusing, but the food area and movie theater is totally packed, no parking to be had... and when we go in the mall, it's packed. Hmm. Not really my choice for inexpensive fun if you're trying to save money in a recession. Maybe it just hasn't hit Chandler... or maybe no one has told people that they could lose their job any day! On a sad note, one of our friends working for Accenture (for probably 6+ years) was just laid off. But, on a high note, I read yesterday that Intel by us is actually expanding their business rather than laying off... good news for our next door neighbor, who works there. February 02 Dressing a BabyI think in the slowing down of Brianna's growth and not having to replace her clothes as often, I had forgotten how quickly they grow when they are little. Finley is 7 weeks today (7 weeks!) and he's already outgrowing things! I think we have already had to put away something like 10 outfits. Now, given, we do have a lot of stuff, because a couple of friends gave me clothes, and Josh's mom insists on shopping (sheesh! Should I complain about someone spending money so we don't have to? :))... so, we do have a lot. But, I can't believe I'm already having to clean stuff out of his closet. I think Brie was the same way - seems like we were always rotating things in and out of her closet, until pretty recently. Sometime soon we might actually have to spend money on clothes for him... no, not likely. I count on Josh's mom for that. Hehe. We were looking for a red shirt for Brie yesterday to support the Cardinals in the Superbowl (too bad, that), and she had no red. About 20 pink shirts, but not one red. Grandma Anita loves her pink... maybe it's time for less pink and more primary colors for Brie? |
